Mixed Breeds In Need started its existence as a "watchdog" organization.

Anita Von Himmel and Marsha Greenman accidently came upon their local municipal shelter.  Anita often ran in the nearby state park.  One day she came upon a small abandoned dog.  She turned it in to the local shelter hoping she was just lost.  Together they found a good home for the dog.  Mixed Breeds In Need was born!

 

Since then we have placed over one hundred dogs and cats in homes with only a very small budget, two people working every day, good community support and much fortitude.  We are in favor of working with the existing municipal shelters and trying to help them make improvements.  We write letters to the towns and villages in our area to promote beneficial changes for shelter animals.  We publish a semi-annual newsletter and host a community dog training event in the Spring to help educate people.  We speak for the animals.  Please speak to us!  E-mail Marsha at mgtulipdom@aol.com or Anita at AVH@aol.com Phone: For adoptions please call (516) 731-9163;  Office 516 922-1774
